When I ran a weight-loss community, people sometimes became bothered because they cheated on their plans in situations rife with temptation, leading them to question their own strength.
I always thought that was the silliest thing. Why put yourself in that position to begin with? Why not prepare yourself to be successful by making it as easy as possible?
This version of the Emperor reminds me of a simple fact: the greatest authority, the most important control, is that over oneself. If you know a particular temptation may be too much for you, avoid it! Elrond knows.
