I know I’ve said before, but the Eight of Swords is one of “my cards.” Not one of my favorites; more like old nemesis. It shows up for me regularly. Says something about me, don’t you think?
This non-traditional version from the Psychic Tarot Oracle breaks it down very simply to “Trapped in Fear.” That is the essence, any way you slice it. (See what I did there? Swords slice. Punny.)
The Love-and-Light spin here is that the restriction is self-imposed, all in your head, and that’s true to a point. What the airy-fairy readers may skip over is that the DANGER may be quite real. But what keeps you immobilized, what keeps you from just dealing with it, IS self-imposed and fear-based.
So the phone call you don’t want to make, the conversation you’re avoiding, the doctor’s appointment you kick down the road?
The worrying itself is the trap, not the circumstance.
Have the faith you’ll find your path, and the courage to face it. Fear ties up your energy, makes you weak and timid. Fear keeps you from finding the truth, finding your way, finding your grounding. Limitations here at least are self-imposed, and the worst-case scenarios you play in your head are much harsher than reality.
We all have our share of “life’s lumps,” yanno? Take ‘em as you must, but don’t make them worse by living them in multiple scenarios, in full color, in your head. That’s far worse than what you’ve got waiting when you stand tall and strong, and walk confidently ahead.
How do you deal with fears?

Depends on the type of fear, but they’re all traps. Sometimes avoidance is the biggest cage of all, ignoring it and hoping it just goes away. Sometimes it will, but not usually. And you have to get out of your headgame.
I should say, I have to get out of MY headgame.
Love the way you pulled in some other cards for ideas, Eric. (And glad to see you’re enjoying the smilies. Ha!)
