Today’s Six of Pentacles reversed makes me think, the line for handouts is too long! You need to be judicious with your generosity and make a conscious decision about how much and to whom you want to give. If you’re not counting here, you’ll run out out of coin before the line ends, and then how are you going to buy your own dinner?
Not giving to everyone that asks, not only for money, but time, energy, attention or anything else, does NOT make you selfish. (And last I checked, selfish isn’t a 4-letter word anyway.) It makes you discerning.
Sure, be generous when you feel moved to do so. But it’s more about what you feel good about than hopping aboard the Guilt Trip Express. Quick tip: When I’m unsure as to how to divvy up my resources or contributing energy to someone else, I look to how it will be used. Because I have finite resources, I want them to go where they will have the most impact!
