Dixie argues love is a choice. Even if you disagree, she still loves you. Ha!

The Lovers is always an encouraging card to see. Of course, we’re going to think of romance. However, it’s associated with Gemini, so it would be only reasonable to assume a dual nature. Today, I’m thinking of this energy  in terms of choice.

Being in love—and more importantly, staying in love—is a choice. Choosing to focus on someone’s positive qualities, forgiving their imperfections, and committing to walking forward with this person in life is most definitely a choice.

I’ve always thought it funny, people say they are “getting married.” As if you go downtown to visit the marriage store, pick out a 30-year model with full warranty, and head on home. Dusting off your hands, you declare, “That’s done!” 🙂

I don’t see marriage isn’t something you do on a particular day and voilà! You’re hitched. It’s a state. It’s a way of living, a way of interacting with the world. Married people remain distinct individuals, yet consciously choose to be part of a couple at the same time.

Think choices. Think about how the ways you’re both an individual who is part of a union. Think about how you’re a human and a soul at the same time. Think about how you’re deciding who you are, how you live, and who you love.

See, love and choice are completely interrelated. It’s a choice to love! It’s a choice not to love. Please don’t confuse this point with staying together. You can love without remaining connected to someone, or remain connected without loving.

Staying part of a particular coupling isn’t always a good choice. Loving however, usually is.

Do you see love as a choice?
