“In matters of truth and justice, there is no difference between large and small problems, for issues concerning the treatment of people are all the same.” –Albert Einstein

Today’s Tarot is the Page of Swords or  Princess of the Rushing Winds, associated with Earth in Air. I sometimes see this young man heralding formal agreements, new ideas, or advising to apply reason to the task at hand. But we’ve been talking about taking care of ourselves. Representing Earth, the page is concerned with practical details of our daily lives. In Air, we want to use the sword of reason to detach from concerns that don’t belong to us. Cut out what doesn’t contribute to the bottom line.

In some ways, that IS psychic self-defense. But it’s also managing resources. You want to be clear on your mission. Then, you can use that clarity as a Litmus test to help making decisions. He’s giving us permission to choose for ourselves what we want, and the tools for living in accordance with that choice.

This isn’t about selfishness. Some goals may be about supporting others. But knowing your aims, you can choose only to do those things that actually DO help, not acting unconsciously and possibly contribute to dysfunction.

Does a decision support your core values? Good expenditure of your energy. Otherwise? Not such a good investment. We’ve only got so much time, energy…life, to spend creating here. There are only so many lives we’ll be touching, so many days we’ll be getting up to greet the sun, you know? Make the most of what you’ve got. Anything less is a waste.

The Page of Swords doesn’t tote old baggage. He doesn’t repeat old news, or care about how things used to be. He’s clear on what he wants, and thinks carefully on how best to achieve his aims. It’s not that he doesn’t support others. He’s just discriminating, because he wants to make the most impact through his decisions. Put your energy behind what you can support, what reflects your core values and convictions, and let go (with good intent) what  does not fit. Your load will be lighter and you’ll create a lot more without the drag.

Do you have clear mission(s)?
