You ever look back on a past you remembered fondly—and suddenly realize it wasn’t even remotely what you thought it was?
Yeah. Me too.
Or it could just as easily go the other way. But the point is, what you saw then and what you see now are vastly different. And that’s what these cards are about.

Outlook: Reversed Six of Cups
Is that pane of nostalgia you’re gazing through clear? Or is it tinted with romanticization—or maybe cracked in places you hadn’t noticed before?
Because what you missed at the time… you can probably see a lot more clearly now.
This card points to a dawning realization: not everything was how you thought it was. Maybe you’re revisiting the same stories with new eyes, or maybe your past is colliding with the person you are now. You’re not just seeing the fragments—you’re seeing how they fit together in ways you didn’t have access to before.
That kind of clarity can sting. But it’s also liberating. Whether or not you wanted to be disabused of your former beliefs, the truth tends to make its own case.
Advice: Knight of Cups
So what do you do with all that? You keep listening to your heart. That’s what you do. You just let the new information update your direction.
I’ve known a lot of people who’ve lived through trauma. And I’ve noticed two paths show up at that crossroads.
Some shut down emotionally. They isolate, protect, go quiet—because they just can’t take on any more. They dull their emotions in an effor to dull the pain.
And some open their hearts even wider. They let the pain through this way, but they also let it shape and alter them. They choose to live more fully and do their best to make meaning out of what they’ve lived through.
That’s the Knight of Cups. Even knowing what you know now, you lead with the heart anyway.
Whatever you “knew” before doesn’t count anymore. It was right for where you were then, but that’s not where you are now.
And that’s beyond okay—because staying true to your clearest perception of truth, and to the call of your heart, is never a mistake.
That’s living honestly.
Now, for you:
Are you gaining new insight into old stories? How can you incorporate that truth and still move from the heart?
