Sometimes people wonder how they should flip the cards, relevant if reading reversals. Personally, I always flip them horizontally instead of vertically, toward or away, to maintain the orientation.
But like most techniques in Tarot, other options will work so long as you are clear on your intent to work that way. That lets the cards know how to give you information and keeps uncertainty from adding a layer of confusion to the reading. It’s been my experience that feeling confused and uncertain adds that energy to a reading, leaving you with confused and uncertain answers. I like a clean, confident vibe in working the cards.
What do you think?
I’ve always wondered, but figured it was a silly question to ask. Glad to see it is isnt! I always flip horizontally otherwise I’m going to be asking myself “should that be inverted or…wait, I flipped it this way soo..” Stuff like that breaks my concentration so just going horizontal works for me.
A lot of people have this question! I did. Not silly at all. Any whatever you can do to keep the flow going will make your readings better.
It’s been so long since I did my tarot and I can’t remember how I used to flip. This time I automatically flipped the bottom up vertically and didn’t question it until I got to the last card. The reading seems dead on. If I’d done horizontal it would have been a more vague reading with some card meanings (past and present) not even close to my past and present. Personally I feel you should do whatever you first instinct is. That’s most likely the way.
