Getting in touch with your true self must be your first priority. –Tom Hopkins
In the middle of an epically ugly custody dispute, I was certain of pretty much nothing. My list of unknowns included the greater good, where we were going to find the money, if the ends ever justify the means, and if it all would ever end, anyway!
The only way I made it through with sanity (mostly) intact was realizing I did have a yardstick: the kids’ best interest. That was the only thing that really mattered. If I always did my damnedest to do right by those kids, I could sleep at night, you know? That’s what got me through it, right there.
Today’s Tarot forecast is the Page of Swords, or “Princess of the Rushing Winds,” coming in inverted and associated with Earth (page) in Air (Swords). This gorgeous version from Shadowscapes features the page cradling a baby swan, protecting him through the flight. Her attention is singular, squarely focused on the cygnet
Earthy pages make things real. In Swords, we’ve got “this idea,” see?—or a plan, an outline, agreements, anything in thought form—and it’s becoming flesh and blood reality. It’s time to negotiate and finalize. But we worry, about messing it up.
Whenever you define what you’re signing on for, by default you also define what you’re cutting out. You can’t start anew without setting aside the old. So be clear here. (The Swords like that, when you’re clear.)
Cut through extraneous details; know what baby you want to protect. Then, it’s much easier to weigh individual decisions. What protects my highest value here? Holding that guiding principle close to you lights the way.
Do you know what baby you’re looking after?

Dixie, That card is so beautiful…I had to order the deck and book for it…I’ve been searching for “my” deck…FOUND IT…thanks so much for all that you do!
It’s an absolutely beautiful deck for sure, leisha! You’ll have to let me know how you like it.
And thank you.
This sentiment has come at the most perfect time imaginable. Your timing is serendipitous Dixie. Thank you.
I’m very glad, kiki. That makes me happy to hear.
It is a gorgeous card. I know you said it is an earth card but I see so much air and water. Anyway I like it and it’s message, sometimes our babies are actually things we give birth to. Like ideas, goals, and dreams.
Well, the Air is from the Swords suit, it’s just pages are connected to Earth, the rank. So that’s what I was talking about. But yes, I think we can have many types of babies.
The swans are so beautiful. Very parental and generational…. how timely for me.
I’m trying to protect “babies” spanning three generations. Neither of them want me hovering too closely, so I’m just observing carefully, ready to spring into action.
I looked up the symbolism of swans after I read this… lots there, very interesting.
