In the Tarot class I just led–my first one–I was surprised. Because one of the biggest challenges I had was adequately communicating what it’s like you truly begin to commune with the cards, develop a relationship with them over time. You can teach technique and structure. You can talk about experiences. But you cannot teach what happens, once you walk through that door.
There’s a certain point, past which your life is not going to be the same.
The experiences are singular. You can describe them. You can share the events and the details. But the feelings that go along with it all and in particular, the knowings that breathe life into the experience, defy sufficient description.
There’s the whole “getting info” thing that people do. It’s why most pick up the cards at first, myself included. What mysteries might I tap? What foresight might I gather?
But in time, that becomes the least compelling part of an ongoing relationship with the cards.
You stick with the cards, they begin to guide you down a path. YOUR path. And it’s foggy and sometimes messy and often confusing. But as long as you stay open to the experience, humble enough to realize you pretty much don’t know squat about how the universe works outside the basics, things begin to click.
And eventually you realize, everything is different. I don’t know how well I managed to capture the magic, but I tried.
This week? The cards definitely describe a singular experience. Perhaps it will grant a flavor of what I wanted to convey in the class. Themes of self-evaluation and self-reliance dominate.
The appearance of several major Arcana says to expect intensity, likely with emotional punch. Look for patterns to come up this week, representative of bigger issues. Overall, there is potential for a whole lot of drama here, both good and not-so-much good. You may be able to avoid some of the not-so-good by staying centered, focused on your own story.
[bctt tweet=”Stay focused on your own story.”]
Monday, the Moon: There’s a dreamy, other-worldly kind of feel to today. Could be pleasant. Could be deceptive. Either way, you can’t really trust it. But you can probably enjoy it.
Tuesday, Nine of Cups: Well, this looks like a great day! Wish fulfillment, perhaps? Gifts? A wonderful compliment? Recognition? Something nice for you today. Merry belated Christmas!
Wednesday, Seven of Wands reversed: If you find yourself saying, “It’s the principle of the thing…” Well, maybe not. Look for what’s underneath urges to “stand up to the man,” to see if there’s a more personal pain driving it. Righteous indignation? Probably not a recommended stance. Make sure you’re on focus and on task. Let the rest the world do their thing(s); just make sure you’re doing yours.
Thursday, Six of Cups reversed: Acknowledge kind gestures, but make sure your backup plan is Y-O-U, you. Support coming from other venues? That’s awesome! Appreciate it in full, but don’t budget it in. Self-reliance is the safest. Especially in the final stages of endeavors, be certain you’ve reserved enough steam to carry it home all by your lonesome if necessary.
Friday, High Priestess reversed: People may accidentally divulge secrets today. Look for sideways admissions and out-and-out blurting. I would not try to be coy under this energy at all, because there’s real possibility you’re telling more than you realize. On the other hand, it’s a great day to get inside information–it will sail right out of the flapping lips.
Saturday, Judgment reversed & Sunday, Knight of Pentacles: Here’s another recent repeat, both cards. I’m inclined to read these together as “keep your eyes on your own paper.” Mow your own lawn, don’t complain about the neighbors’ grass. Take care of your own business, and let everything else (and everyone else) sort themselves out. Mind your own beeswax!
Overview/Advice, Wheel of Fortune reversed: Even reversed, the Wheel is a pretty sweet card. Any irritation that strikes, look to let it roll off your back. Consider frustrations as temporary setbacks, minor bits of bad luck, not representative of your life or the future as a whole. “Temporary setbacks.” That’s the phrase to deal with any distraction or frustration this week. It’s a temporary setback. Nothing more.
Happy Full Moon in Leo (23rd). Lots of complexity to this one, but in summation, only this: Expect a show. Make sure you know your lines.
Affirmation: My emotional setpoints can be changed. If you want to be happier, keep reaching for happier. If you want to feel stronger or braver, keep reaching for stronger or braver. Don’t worry about how far off you are from the totality of what you want. Just keep giving yourself opportunities, to be feeling the way you want to feel. Keep reminding yourself of times when you have already achieved this, and keep praising and congratulating yourself for all the progress you’ve made. Do not think in terms of the need or deficiency. Focus on what you’re achieving, and turn up the achievement. That approach gain you the most ground.
In short, it’s largely a week for singular experiences, feeling alone in a crowd. That’s not good or bad. Just the flavor of the week. But the quiet time allows you to review your own alignment and make corrections as required.
You ever feel alone in a crowd?
