Be practical, but not ruthless. Be direct, but not sarcastic. Be protective, but not over-reactive. These are some of the messages the reversed Queen of Swords offers up. Basically, you want to tap into her strengths without going too far.
One of the best methods for accessing the higher side of her energy is to call upon one of her strong points: detachment. Whatever the problem someone has with you, it is by definition THEIR problem, a function of how they see the world and see your place in it. Being aware of this, you can fully connect to the fact whatever “it” is, it’s utterly NOT about you!
If it’s not about you, it’s much easier to release the urge to be cutting and address the meat of the message.
If it’s not about you, it’s much easier to be logical and rational.
If it’s not about you, it’s much easier to see clearly and without undue emotion.
There’s one very important trick to keeping it not about you, though: you have to accept that other people are going to operate by their own sensibilities, in their own timeline, without necessarily being influenced by your declarations of right, wrong or indifferent.
In order for the “not about you” strategy to work, you have to accept the idea their lives are their own, and not necessarily subject to your commentary or veto power. This is true and right, but I would guess a full 75% of folks are not really down with this approach. Because it means letting go of trying to control other people, even if you’re “right.”
Lesson learned the hard way, that’s all I’ve got to say on that.
Do you have an easy or hard time seeing stuff as “not about you?”
