“Suffering isn’t ennobling, recovery is.” Christiaan Barnard

My world’s ended many a time. And each time, it’s inordinately painful. And much as I hate to say it, each time, it’s been inordinately necessary, right.

Today’s Tarot is the Nine of Swords (Mars in Gemini). This version is compelling, immediately giving the “world comes crashing down” vibe, right long with a dangerous looking snake in the foreground and crumbling buildings in the distance. But the real tell is the sword piercing the man. Calamity has struck! It’s not especially pretty.

I always think of this card as representing that lonely place where you know, you can’t just “hold it together” any more. Anguish, worry, guilt, fear—all long accompanied by wishing it away, hard!—none of this matters.

And honestly? It’s a relief, to have it out in the open, you know? You can stop worrying about what-if’s and start dealing with what-is. This energy is far from comfortable, but it’s necessary to face. The cleaner you face it, the quicker it’s cleaned up.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, like it’s just too much? Do you have worry, fear and regret? These are Nine of Swords feelings. All I know to move past them is to face it, square on and go from there. That’s what I’ve done with them. (I won’t mention the fact I never ultimately felt I had a choice not to face. That’s beside the point, and doesn’t make it any less brave.)

If you’re in this place, forgive yourself for getting there and let the swords fall. You can’t stop them anyway, so no sense slicing yourself up trying.

You feeling the Nine of Swords? How are you coping?

  1. Yes it is a relief to have it out in the open and DONE so there’s no more worrying about is it or isn’t it. Is it comfortable? Nah, not so much-ish but it feels a hell of a lot better than it would have not too long ago THANK YOU VERY MUCH HON!

Facing it cleanly is a different story, this is where the constant questioning has been useless in trying to SEE an outcome. Do I have regret? Meh, my actions are the regret NOT the outcome. As my husband says “it is what it was”!

    Great Card today :-*)
