Five of Pentacles & Three of Cups: With a Little Help From My Friends

Sometimes, things are just plain hard. But I notice the biggest, thorniest stretches aren’t really a result of external issues.

Our subjective experience is mostly a question of how we evaluate ourselves.

Do you imagine doom and disaster around every turn? Do you fuss at yourself for flaws and shortcomings in being where you are to begin with? Do you question your ability to success by judging yourself wanting,  just not up to snuff?

Because if this is going down, you’ve gotta understand it’s not the external turning up the stressful and scary vibes. It’s YOU, as a function of your thoughts and beliefs.

Challenges are not optional in life, but most suffering is.

Next week may serve up some challenges. It happens! But you’ll have to decide how much suffering you’re going to gobble down in the process. Fortunately, the cards have some advice.

Next Week in Tarot

Outlook for the week is Five of Pentacles (Earth), with advice coming from the Three of Cups (Water). At least it’s only one Tarot Five here and not two like last week. Cards pictured from the Good Tarot deck.

That’s progress, right?

As I was shuffling, though, the Hanged Man also leaped out of the deck (or swung)? I set him aside to serve as an overview.  I will never deny a card that wants to be heard. Even a quiet card, like the Hanged Man.

Feeling out of sorts, left out, downtrodden and all alone? Because those are all phrases that describe the Five of Pentacles energy.

However, that’s not the whole story. Whenever I see this card,  I am usually quick to point out that help is available, too–but you may have to ask for it.

You’re probably not as alone as you think you are.

For advice, the Three of Cups is clear. Seek community! Hook up with your people. Socialize. Have fun. Personal connections are super helpful, as is fun in general. Look for whatever opportunity you can find to laugh and make merry.

I very much like the  Hanged Man as a high-level vision here, too. He tells us to have faith! Know that you’ll get what you need, when you need it. It won’t require extraordinary measures, although it may require a wait because the Hanged Man is all about holding space and keeping the faith.

The hanged man “magics” circumstances into being. For that to be effective, you have to believe.

This could be an awesome theme song for the week…

Survival Skills for the Coming Week

  • Don’t assume there is no help to be had. There is, but you may have to ask for it.
  • Be aware of the stories you tell yourself. If they aren’t pretty, change them.
  • Connect with your tribe.
  • Seek out and savor any opportunities to have a good time.
  • Have faith and believe: in yourself, in your people, and in the Universe.

Here’s hoping for a good week for us all. Make merry and believe, my friends. It makes the hard times easier and the good times sweeter.
