Happy Solstice/New Moon! There is unquestionably some magic on tap, but it’s a Capricorn new moon. So you have to turn on the faucet yourself.
This looks to be a very transitional week. I’m reminded of cleaning out a closet to make way for new clothing, or clearing out a room so someone can move in. Looking at next week as a whole, it strikes me as a mix of emotion and action. But the twist is that most of the “action” potential is rooted in inaction. Big happenings are settling into life’s white spaces—what’s not is as important (or more so) than what is. It’s what you are not doing, not saying, not forcing, that opens up the room to allow. Even saying that is making me feel all existentialist or something. But let’s hit the highlights, day by day.
Monday, Question – The Hanged Man: The question here is one of inaction. Maybe not what you should do, so much as what you should leave alone. For any situations where you are feeling unsure, faith and allowing situations to play out is the recommended strategy.
Tuesday, What to Take from the Past – Page of Cups: Strong, loving heart energy is what you want to access today. Jaded and loving don’t mix. Look a for a pure, uncomplicated, and heart-centered approach. No finesse or relationship management required or desired. I won’t say it’s necessarily easy. It requires a sometimes staunch faith to execute. Some might call this naïve or simplistic. I call it potent, very potent energy.
Wednesday, Hobbies and Talents – Four of Cups: Pastimes and activities you enjoy are a form of meditation. They definitely allow a different perspective. These kinds of activities today may alert you to what you’re missing as much as what you have. You don’t have to seek these answers, by the way. The act of losing yourself in personal expression creates space in your head and your heart, not filled up with daily bustle. It provides a contrast so the points can be more readily perceived.
Thursday, What to Avoid – Four of Wands reversed: Merry Christmas! Advice? Be extra respective of other’s partners and family, even if you don’t feel all that enthused. Not the day to suggest a divorce to anybody! Now maybe this is common sense on a day people often spend with family or maybe not, but the reversed Four of Wands suggests not to disrupt any apple carts. What you don’t say counts! It’s also an important day to honor commitments.
Friday, Co-Workers – High Priestess: The High Priestess is another one of those between-the-lines energies. In the position of co-workers, it would suggest an unspoken understanding related to people you are partnering with. This could be work of course, project related. But it doesn’t have to be. It can speak to any flavor of joint project. Partners may know more than you think they do. Listen for what’s not said. If you are in doubt regarding your own behavior with co-workers, wait, hold back or remain silent. This is another example of the white spaces.
Saturday, Pros – Strength reversed: It’s interesting to find Strength reversed in the “Pros” position. I’m going to say having limits as to time, energy and resources is actually helpful today. It allows you to be human, and encourages you to grant yourself permission to let go of some things in order to direct your resources into others. Your strength shows up via energy freed by what you are not doing. White spaces.
Sunday, Resolution – Nine of Wands reversed: Problems are resolved via not being the last holdout! Stubbornness is not helpful today. Yesterday, we looked at how much was too much. Today, let the “too much” part go. That’s the resolution.
Advice/Overview – Chariot Reversed: Avoid singled-minded focus (read: myopic). The Chariot is indirect anyway. Reversed, it’s so indirect as to be confusing.
Affirmation – Claim Your Boundaries: I spoke to someone recently about their circle, and how it’s shrinking. I had a rather vivid image, of a circle around the person, getting smaller and smaller. I don’t think of this as inherently bad. It’s like extract, the essence being accessed. The energy is not so watered down. Reducing a sauce by cooking it down, you know? You allow the heat and time to do it’s work. That’s what this coming week is about. New moons are for starting new projects, new energy patterns, but an inherent component of a new energy pattern is continuing, day by day, to release existing patterns. You have to have white space before it can be filled. Boundaries management is always a vital skill. But for this week, you’re not trying to direct the entire orchestra of everyone in your life. You’re not off to save the world or find the “magic right words” to teach kindness to someone on the internet. You are only regulating yourself. People get confused, thinking boundaries are about regulating the behavior others. They are not…otherwise, setting boundaries would be an impossible proposition. We cannot control anybody else. But boundaries never regulate others. Boundaires specify what you allow into YOUR experience. That is much, much simpler.
