“Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.” –Audrey Hepburn

Today’s Tarot is the Ace of Pentacles (Earth Element) reversed, and the King of Pentacles (Fire in Earth). We’re definitely looking at real-world manifestations, with two Tarot Pentacles. The reversed Ace would suggest delays, difficulty getting rolling, or partial blocks in making visions real. But that’s not of huge concern with the King showing up as backup. The perhaps shaky beginning (inverted Ace) gets support and assurances via the ruler of Pentacles by it’s side.
The King of Pentacles would have us to be methodical, practical and focus on what needs to be taken care of. He’s a very grounded, fatherly figure who is wonderfully adept at providing for his kingdom’s physical needs. Make a plan! Effectively utilize your resources. Take everything one step at a time. Be kind, practical, and above all, realistic. This king doesn’t just hand over his resources. He INVESTS in the well-being of his realm. There’s a difference.
On a mundane level, begin by managing resources—and I don’t just mean money. We’re talking time, energy, and attention. Fear in particular scatters focus and can immobilize. We’d be much better off focusing on what we CAN realistically do, as opposed to what we’re afraid we cannot manage. Fear and worry expends valuable energy that could be directed toward successful outcomes instead.
Likewise, care-taking needs to start with the self! If you’re not strong, whatever energy you have to give out is already compromised, both in quantity and quality. Sometimes, we believe that in attending to our own needs last, keeping ourselves at the bottom of that never-ending list, we’re somehow being generous. That just isn’t so. I am a firm believer in sharing your blessings others. But don’t do it on an empty stomach and no sleep, you know? Feed and care for yourself first. When you’re healthy and strong, what you have to share is both more plentiful and more nourishing to the recipients. Provide first a good example. Then, be judicious with how you spend what you’ve got. With a clear head, you can more easily determine where your help does the most good for the most people. Their well-being will in turn feed you, and the investment thus pays off.
Have you given thought to how you’re investing your energy? Is it working for you?

Thanks for the wonderful reminder to invest in self, it’s something I really needed to hear again today!
To Dixie, all of y’all & ME
A worthy investment it is, CancerMom. :present:
YUP!!!
Fits right in with MoonPluto’s post on the Aries Full Moon coming up! What are you going to commit to?
I’m committing to MYSELF. To living my dreams, and my best life.
What wonderful things to invest in, Kim. You GO, girl!!
I was just wondering if I should skip morning meditation to rush :clock: over to the nursing home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html, but this tells me to invest in my own strength and peace FIRST.
Hope your meditation went well.
Ok Dixie, at this point, you’re just plain and simple freakin’ me out lol! In a wonderfully good way of corse! I am so enjoying and gaining so much from your posts! Thank you!
Glad it resonated, Krysten.
Oh man, I need to get this one! I really need to learn how to do this better — to take care of self first and then take care of others. Not the other way around!
Practice make perfect, Lilly.
Yeah… I have practiced and perfected taking care of others! Guess I can change the practice routine now.
Do you ever feel like you’re living at 50%? That’s me now. Only half of what I start out to do gets finished. Time and energy are the resources that need the most attention. Thanks for the foresight, Dixie. I’m so glad you took up tarot.
Yeah, time and energy are biggies for me. There never seems like enough! Thank you for your comment, cj. That is very kind.
