Justice Rx: Managing Your Narrative

I’ve been really dissecting how I look at the world lately–like, more than I normally do. Life can make you do that.

My dad has Alzheimer’s and it’s a disease that really leads you to question darned near everything. I’m often finding myself in various stages of anticipatory grief. It’s such a roller coaster, you know? My mood can soar and dip according to the news of the day.

Dad had a good day? Awesome! I’m relieved and happy. Everything is okay. He’s had a bad day? Oh no! It’s the beginning of the end.

It hurts my heart. This grasping-every-little-tidbit of news and accepting that as some kind of definitive (read: persistent) truth is exhausting. It’s also very human, but pretty much nonsensical.

My father is not only old (at 92), but declining through the late stages of a progressive, incurable disease. There is only one way the story ends. The best I can do is find perspectives that support me, support those I hope to offer comfort to, and make my peace with it.

While most of you are hopefully dealing with less dramatic stressors, the vibe next week is kind of along these lines. May you find that peaceful spot in your head and protect it!

Next Week in the Cards

Outlook is Justice reversed. Advice, Seven of Cups with a little more clarification from the Four of Swords. Deck pictured is the ever-faithful Radiant Rider Waite.

Does something feel amiss? Does something you’re seeing feel unfair, out of balance, out of proportion, or just plain wrong? That’s how it might hit you (or others) in the coming week. These two cards together in particular, Justice and the Seven, suggest a narrative is in play that may not be entirely fair or accurate.

But the cards don’t say where the narrative is coming from. It could be self-imposed just as easily as externally generated. So, bear that in mind before taking shots or melting down, friends.

As far as advice goes, YOU lean into interpretation best supports your needs. This could very well feel like a “right versus happy” scenario.  Or not. Thing is, you may not have all the info necessary to “know” what’s going on, especailly not at the granular, detail level.

So you find a way to frame that works for you and you make your peace with now. No other action is required right now.

Here’s hoping you are doing well and whatever feels off in your life is mild. Stay peaceful out there, friends!
