“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.” Lao Tzu
It took my Virgo moon husband to point out to me what was glaringly obvious to everyone else. The little things that drove me most nuts in my kid was when she was acting most like me. So, that’s why I got nothing but peals of laughter when I complained about her smart mouth! While this is a very inconsequential example, I’ve seen the same dynamic at play in bigger ways and I have to admit, I don’t always like it. Liking is not a prerequisite for acknowledging, however.
Today’s Tarot forecast is the Hermit (Virgo) and the Lovers (Gemini). Seems like we’ve got Mercury well-covered today! And you know, Mercury loves the thinking, so let’s just think about this…
You want to have harmonious relationships? What you see in your relationships isn’t so much straight-up a reflection of the other, the rest of the world—it’s more a reflection of you! Both how you perceive what you see and what seems relevant. Knowing thyself, your own strengths, weaknesses, wounds and gifts, is what makes a fully intimate relationship possible. If you’re heavily vested in keeping your own foibles under wraps—and, well, who of us aren’t to some degree? –then your view of others will be likewise skewed. I’m not saying every irritation isn’t legitimate. Only that this is an area that’s very difficult to see.
How do you see self-knowledge at play in your relationships?

What’s that Anaïs Nin quote? We don’t see things as they are – we see them as we are ;/)
Yep! And it’s a good one, Shannon.
