Heart and Brain: Weekly Flow Tarot, Aug. 30 – Sept. 5, 2015

When my kids were little and getting in trouble for something, I integrated praise or even jokes into those talks, at least as much as I could manage. The point was remaining emotionally engaged with them throughout. I wanted them to know I loved them, I still saw them as good kids, even when I wasn’t remotely pleased with specific behavior. This week’s energy reminded me of that…you need to exercise both heart and brain to be successful.

I look at this layout, and I see making rational choices despite emotional pulls, doing what makes sense. It calls for maintaining an awareness of and respect for feelings without letting them run the show entirely, you know? I see the potential for tough love, but even more, a decision to work through challenges and continuing to behave in a loving way, while still doing what needs to be done. The mix of Swords and Cups is very suggestive of a parent lovingly (but very clearly) correcting a child, or someone having a heart-to-heart (aka “Come to Jesus”) talk with someone. I’m not saying those types of scenarios are inevitable, but I’m seeing that as one way this could express. Saying what needs to be said in a loving way, as opposed to what’s easiest to say, or avoidance.

Monday – King of Swords: Rationality for the win, especially in the world at large. Do what needs to be done–no more, but no less, in terms of having expectations. The King of Swords is fair always, but never a pushover. He doesn’t demand so much as he expects. Follow through is a good idea, as is approaching ever question from a rational, thoughtful platform.

Tuesday – The Lovers: Choose to be kind. Choose to see the good in people, wherever and whenever you can.

Wednesday – Queen of Swords: Another opportunity to make clear, rational decisions. This time, it’s more directed at home, starting with the mirror and working your way out. The Queen of Swords always suggests prioritizing to me. She has a laser focus so even when she does multitask, she can always tell you what is top of the list. This approach will serve you well.

Thursday – Page of Cups: Say what’s in your heart. Be honest, even if it feels a little vulnerable.

Friday – Eight of Swords Reversed: Opportunity for a leap ahead or significant progress, if you’re willing to overcome fear to do it.

Saturday – Eight of Cups Reversed: Don’t leave everything behind. Just what doesn’t work for you anymore, what you’ve legitimately outgrown.  There is a baby in the bathwater, you know? Fish out the baby.

Sunday – Eight of Pentacles: Keep working away at what you’ve been doing all week. Stay the course and hey, get your chores done before the next week begins! It looks busy, next week.

Overview/Advice – Nine of Pentacles: Thor Kitten is helping by pointing this one out to us as important. Use what you’ve learned! You have the skills and understanding you need here. Any stress that comes up this week, look to approach using what you’ve already learned, and with a refined sense of class. “Grace” would make an excellent keyword to keep in mind.

Affirmation: Azure – Protect Yourself. This affirmation and picture suggests clarity. You have something you need to say? Say it certainly, but stick to the point. You have something that’s not working in your process? Cut it off, as soon as you see it’s a problem. Don’t wait. Boundaries are your friends. Know what you can and cannot do my friends, and commit to only that in the former category.

This is not a comfortable week for pushovers or procrastinators! Those that stay on task, on point, and are kind but fair–including fair to themselves–fare best.

  1. I have picked up another job, in addition to my “regular” job. There is potential for it to be more than part time. I’m going to be working more, which is helpful for income to be sure. The second job is very close to home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_html as well. This reading plays into that beautifully.
