“I just don’t get it.”
That’s a phrase I’ve been saying a lot lately. I suspect I’m not alone.
Instead of succumbing to the urge to fight whatever “it” I just don’t get, I’m taking a little detour. I’m seeking a better understanding of whatever it is that I don’t get.
Now, this may not be the route for everyone. But it’s been helpful for me. You’ll get your own chance to decide what’s best for yourself coming up.
Next Week in Tarot
The forecast is the Five of Swords–ugh. Advice is once again the Knight of Swords.
The Five of Swords pretty much always signals conflict. Sometimes internal, sometimes external, but no matter what, this card heralds incoming battles. No surprise here.
The images on this rendition notably emphasize the feelings involved, with so many swords cutting through hearts. The central cross and star visually suggests self-righteousness to me.
People are very likely to feel like their personal cause is holy and sacred. Ironically, they may have powerful enough emotions about that cause to remain convinced nobody else’s feelings are relevant.
We’ve been seeing an abundance of Swords lately, which isn’t super surprising considering the state of the world right. Insofar as advice goes, embodying the principles you want to promote remains a valid prescription for honoring the Knight of Swords. Meticulous integrity is certainly a great way to follow his lead.
But there are many ways to express the energy of Air, the Sword’s element. We could go with reason, intellectualism, emotional distancing, discrimination or elimination. We could become more dispassionate or “cut away” something that doesn’t serve. There are a plethora of choices here.
Recently, I’ve been leaning into the Swords’ spirit of investigation and curiosity. I’m not seeking pockets of agreement so much as I’m looking for clarity and a better understanding. I’m looking to “get it,” not so much judge it. I am convinced the better I understand what I’m seeing, the easier it is for me to moderate emotional responses to it.
This coming week, expect conflict to continue unabated. This could refer to either personal or collective conflict or maybe both. I’m sorry about that. I know many are tired.
For your part, seek ways to utilize the Knight of Swords’ energy. You can become a personal example of principles you revere. You can emotionally distance, occupying your mind with other things You can look to better understand viewpoints that diverge from your own. Or you can jump right into the fray. I don’t choose that one because it doesn’t feel good to me. But I’m not going to tell others what to do, tempted as I may sometimes be.
Good luck out there, friends.
