Faith Through the Hills: Weekly Tarot, Aug 29 – Sep 4

When I was a kid, there were certain back roads we went down sometimes, that had big hills. And mom would sometimes drive these roads, way faster than she probably should have. And it my tummy would drop, like being on a roller coaster ride.

I laughed and laughed and laughed. And there was nothing I loved better than when we got to drive on one of those hilly backroads.

I loved it even more than when we sang “Row Your Boat” rounds in the car and would get confused and laugh all over the verses.

For some people, the way we rode those roads wouldn’t have been fun. It would have been terrifying or upsetting.

But it never was for me. I had complete faith in my mom. I knew it was all okay. Never entered my mind it would be anything but. So I got to fully experience the joy of how it felt.

Faith is a beautiful thing.

Faith will serve you well in the week ahead. A lot of this week has kind of a slow-motion feel to it. That makes sense as we’re hitting full on Mercury Rx. And Mercury has been showing his butt some even during the shadow leading up to it, so it looks like this one might be a little ride (Aug 30 – Sep 22).

But it’s okay. Really, it’s okay.

Because you know what? What the ride is like is never about the condition of the road. It’s always about the emotional state of the rider. Those bumps and potholes are always gonna be there. They can be either annoying and scary or exciting and fun, depending on where you are vibrating at when you hit ’em.

Have faith and have fun.

Monday, The Emperor: Stay in your own lane and watch the road. The Emperor is about control, but to me? His strongest position of control is always that of self-control. What other people are doing is of less interest than what he wants, what he’s doing, and where he’s going. Nothing gets him to lose sight of his goals.

Tuesday, Ace of Pentacles: One step at a time, one item off the checklist at a time. A great day to enjoy nature or physical pleasures like good food or yes, sex.

Wednesday, Six of Cups Rx: A little uneasiness around other people’s words. Who is trustworthy? You don’t have to figure it out on the spot. Time will sort it out. You just remain rooted in what you know to be.

Thursday, The Hermit Rx: Don’t take another’s word for reality. You don’t have to isolate–in fact, I would suggest you don’t. But everything, everything, everything you need to measure according to your own yardstick.

Friday, The Fool: Have some fun for God’s sakes!

Saturday, Knight of Swords Rx: If somebody says something that rubs you the wrong way, let it roll off your back. Don’t worry or overthink it. Distract yourself!

Sunday, Ace of Cups Rx: Emotional replenishment time today. You may be a little low on the emotional energy. If you are, it’s going around. Be gentle with yourself. Schedule light and make room for fun. You’ll soon feel better.

Overview/Advice, Six of Pentacles: Pace yourself, and budget your energy. Generosity is awesome, but the most important kind of generosity is that of the spirit.

Affirmation: Bat. The bat symbolizes a rebirthing process. Hello, caves!

  1. Thanks for triggering such a wonderful memory – – I, too, had those hilly roads in my home/dixiblog/domains/afoolsjourney.com/public_htmltown and a father who drove them to delight me
