Devil and the High Priestess: Invisible Cages

So there’s this situation. I didn’t create it, but I live in it. I’ve been stuck in it for a very, very long time. Decades, even.

And then the eclipse hit. Mars-Uranus was dotting the i’s last week. The pressure had been building, slowly and steadily, over a long time. Tenser and tenser and tenser.

Before I knew it, I gave in to the pressure and blew a gasket like I can’t remember ever doing before. All this energy that had been bottled up over the years came out in one big, ugly, fireball-hot blast.

Oops.

It wasn’t pretty, but for me, it was honest. It made me think about how I’d been involved in creating the trap I was in. This makes the coming week’s forecast especially apt.

Maybe for you, too.

Next Week in the Cards

Outlook: The Devil – All manners of vice, traps, and prisons may be activated.
Advice: The High Priestess – Get quiet, listen to your intuition, and let everything stew.

Evocative and fun deck, the Housewives’ Tarot pictured.

Often, when we feel the most trapped, it’s because we’ve taken some options off the table. We can’t hurt someone’s feelings. Or we have to stay at that job. Or we can never tell someone what we really think. These taken-for-granted conditions can create invisible cages.

We’ve latched onto something we think we cannot question, challenge, or lose. That’s the bondage of The Devil.

Prisons don’t just restrain people. They can paradoxically offer a sense of comfort or protection. They represent our limitations, our weaknesses, or our comfort-measure vices. We’re seeking relief, condolence, or safety. We don’t think we can face whatever must be faced, so we numb ourselves instead.

Bondage is a state of mind more than of body. People can be physically locked up but emotionally free. Or, unfortunately, it can also go the other way around.

This coming week, we may come face-to-face with those things we feel cannot be changed. And we’ll likely be asking ourselves, ‘Is this true? Do I have a choice?’

The High Priestess doesn’t implore action. Quite the opposite, really. That syrup pours slowly, you know? Instead of outward progress, she offers what we need most: awareness. If we get quiet and wait on her, she serves up her best in insight, inner peace, and intuitive guidance.

Our best path is clear: slow down. Allow Universal timing to unfold. Be aware of what you’re so sure you ‘need’ and what fulfilling those needs is costing you. Not saying it’s not a fair exchange. But this coming week is an important time to toss out the question and let the answers arrive via magic ether mail.

It’s okay to find comfort and practice self-care. In fact, it’s vital. But do see that you’re not just hiding instead of healing. While this energy is raw, the impact is clear, and the outcome definitely has the potential to be worth it and then some.

Much love to you, friends, as you break free and look around at the new possibilities.
