I have fond memories of family vacations, riding in the back of the old motor home, a time or two with friends. I must have been in fourth grade or thereabouts, judging from the lyrics of the made-up songs I can still remember.
There was one song about offing your teacher to the tune of Jingle Bells—always the rebel, I was! And this ditty on seasonal greed, sung to the tune of “’Tis the Season.” My friends and I sang these songs over and over, and they never failed to leave us in stiches.
“’Tis the season to be greedy.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.Take some money from the needy.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.Take some money from your brother.
Fa la la la la, la la la la.Tell him it’s for your sick mother.
Fa la la la la, la la la la….”
Yeah. My sense of humor hadn’t fully developed yet. And my writing skills left a touch to be developed as well. But hey, it rhymed!
Today, we’ve got the Four of Cups (Waves) from the Zodiac Tarot. This deck focuses exclusively on astrological associations, so it carries the symbols for moon in Cancer. Mama (or Grandma) feeds you! Think of family time, and all the little, quirky memories from family dinners or unforgettable trips.
To capture the Moon in Cancer energy, look to what feeds you, and how you feed others. Literally, yes, but moreso, what feeds your soul. How do you express your caretaking instincts, and how are you most fed by the caretaking of others?
These little moments stay with you (or your loved ones and children) forever. Cooking hotdogs on coat hangers, singing rounds of “Row Your Boat” in the car with your mom, or making mud pies at Grandma’s house feed your soul as much as the biscuits and gravy fed your belly in the morning. If you haven’t had any of these magical moments recently, make some! Whether or not Mom was directly involved, I think these could qualify as “Moon in Cancer memories.” They’re like motor home meals—stuff that fed you on the go, you know?
You have some Moon in Cancer memories?
